1994 1995 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus CV Grande HNHR (28 June) 1900. 8 or wh/M #1616 roosted (alone) in the nest tonight. 7 July 1900. Not sure which 8 roosted tonight - if I had to guess, I'd say it was 8 M/Da#2172 but the look was very short. Also, I actually had a slightly better look at his left leg, and what I saw suggested The presence of a split band- hence #1616. I'll have to try again. 9 July 1900. Banded & bled the 3 kids. 1900. Watched roosting tonight: 8'1616 definitely was the one roosting. 25 July Stores remaining. 1995 2 April 1530. None in any holes, but several are now "gone", including: 1) Nice hole in V0 above pond - taken over by beehive 2) 2nd nest hole ('74) across road - fallen. However, the granary is doing well, and is fairly full of stores. 15 May 1400. Opened the hole, over by the creek in the old Live Oak nest tree (but a new hole) found this morning by Jim: 2 kids, bandable (maybe ~18 days). 18 May 1400. Banded & bled the 2 kids. 17 June 1130. Bird flushed from hole on side of hill toward CVette! Babies! Checked hole: 4 kids, largest 37.8g (~9 days). Also pulled 8'2550 (helper) from the nest.
