Frank Aubrey, Walt Mobely, Ray Folwar,
Dave Renthler and I left UCR at 1000 for
our monthly collecting trip. We collected
at Palm Springs for a while, as well
as gathering 2 soil samples. After
eating lunch we drove to the Glavis
area and collected along the road (used
car #240) until sundown. After eating
dinner, we night collected from 2030
until 2400. One Crotalus cerastes was
seen between the canals. Colonyx
variegatus was the only other reptile
species seen tonight. However, 2 miles
east of Glavis, 10 kit foxes (Vulpes
varegatus) were seen - 8 at one spot.
all 8 could be seen at one time in
the headlight. There may have been more
than that at this spot, but this was
all we could count with certainty.
Two more were seen about a mile down
