Mayhew 1960 April 30 Colorado Desert, Imperial Co., Calif. A Sceloporus magister was seen on a power pole at the northern city limits of Brawley, but we were unable to catch it. We then drove to the Algodones Dunes. Along the way we saw: Gambel quail Hudsonian curlew Brewer's blackbird Burrowing owl Citellus tereticaudis Uma notata Roadrunner Meadowlark Red-winged blackbird Morning dove Ladder-back woodpecker Uroaurus graciosa After camp was established on Dune Crest Drive, night collecting began at 1925. 33 Colonyx variagatus were collected between then and 0105, when we stopped for the night. In addition, 7 others were seen but left alone, and 9 were found run over by cars. While night collecting, we also saw: 2 Crotalus cerastes (DOR) Dipodomys deserti Vulpes macrotis Lepus californicus Peromyscus maniculatus Phrynosoma mcallii (DOR) Maximum temp. today was 88° F.; minimum temp. tonight was 65° F. We drove 148 miles today. May 1 We arose at 0700. We looked for lizards from 0900 to 1215. During this time the following animals were seen: Callisaurus draconoides Diposaurus dorsalis Uma notata Uroaurus graciosa
