Mayhew 1960 Journal 24. Apr. 12 Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Cnemidophorus tigris - 2 (ad Ψ) Uta stansburiana - 2 (1 ad γ; 1 ad Ψ) One Phrynosoma platyrhinos (ad γ) was found on the road just before the lunch stop. After leaving Desert Center, we drove to Blythe, then south through Palo Verde. Five miles south of Palo Verde an adult Crotalus atrox was seen crossing the road. It was captured and preserved for the field zoology class. We ate dinner at the end of the pavement 12 miles east of Glamis. At 1855 we began night collecting toward Glamis. During the evening (up to 2340) we captured 9 Coleonyx variegatus (5 ad γ; 4 ad Ψ), but saw no other reptiles. We drove 234 miles today. Maximum temp. was 84°F., minimum temp. tonight was 52°F. 20 animals caught today. Apr. 13 Colorado Desert, Imperial Co., Calif. We arose at 0700 and ate breakfast. We drove along the road looking for reptiles until 0950. Then we walked through the dunes until noon. After obtaining our soil samples, we looked for lizards again until 1300, then drove to the Coachella Canal where we ate lunch. Then we looked for lizards near the canal from 1450 to 1620. Then we drove to Indio to night collect along Dillon
