Mayhew 1960 Journal 21. Apr. 2 Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Co., Calif. a couple of degrees (C.) of what it had been during the afternoon. The weather never became very warm (~24°C) at any time during the day; Frank found essentially the same thing. He found lots of lizards active near Phelan when he reached that area about 1500. He returned to UCR at 1800. We reached UCR at 1945 after driving 203 miles in # 023 (1960 Chev. station wagon). Animals caught today were: Sceloporus occidentalis - 26 (14 ad m; 10 ad f; 1 im m; 1 im f) Sceloporus magister - 5 (3 ad m; 2 ad f) Uta stansburiana - 9 (7 ad m; 1 ad f; 1 im m) Phrynosoma coronatum - 1 (ad f) Cnemidophorus tigris - 1 (im(?) f) Total - 42 Apr. 3 UCR area, Riverside Co., Calif. This afternoon Frank Aubrey & John Ellis went after lizards near UCR. The weather was warm & bright, with no wind. They caught a total of 15 lizards, as follows: Sceloporus occidentalis - 8 (6 ad m; 1 ad f; 1 im m) Sceloporus orcutti - 4 (2 ad m; 1 ad f; 1 im? f) Uta stansburiana - 3 (ad m) Lots of S. occidentalis were active during their entire outing, but S. orcutti was not overly abundant in the area they worked.
