Walt Moberly & I left UCR at 0810
for our monthly collecting trip. We
reached Grandaddy Dune at 0930 &
began to look for lizards at 0945.
We searched this site until 1200, at
which time we collected our soil sample.
There was no wind at all until about
1100, when a very light SE breeze arose.
This was one of the nicest days,
weatherwise, I've ever spent at this
location. Animals were not too abundant,
but we caught a few. Of those captured,
6 were toe-clipped & released, 1 marked
animal was caught & released, & 8 were
returned to the laboratory, making a total
of 15 animals caught at this site.
We then drove to Palm Springs Panorama
& looked for lizards. Although the weather
was still very nice, few animals were
to be seen at this time of day (1230).
