Mayhew 1961 Oct. 8 Journal 88. Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. measured, toe-clipped and released. Four adult Uma notata and 2 adult Urosaurus graciosa were also caught & returned to the laboratory. We began looking for Phrynosoma m'celli along the road at 1200, and continued to 1230. However, we weren't surprised to find more. The maximum temperature (36°) today was 20.0°C., and a strong wind blew all day. Several species of plants were in bloom at this time in the Glamis area. The most obvious ones were: Helianthus tephrodes (1st blooms for some mo.) Paloformia linearis Mentzelia Petalonyx thuberi Eriogonum deserticola Dalea emoryi Pectis popposa Chilopsis linearis Croton calif. We reached UCR at 1735 after a 511 mile trip (total). We caught 105 animals of 6 species. Of these, 47 were marked and released (2 Urosaurus graciosa, 45 Uma notata ). Ed Eberle took 67 and 30 Uma notata for his senior thesis project. The rest were brought to the laboratories.
