Sept. 22 UCR, Riverside Co., Calif.
and ?? are involved. I am trying
to bring them into breeding condition
during the winter. 10 U. inornata
(2 ?, 8 ?), 14 U. notata (4 ?, 10 ?),
and 15 U. scoparia are involved (6 ?,
9 ? U. scoparia).
Case #3 contains 11 juvenile Dipsoceana
loralia, 4 young Uma inornata, 11 Uma
notata, and 10 Uma scoparia. These are
control animals for a growth
experiment involving light. Cage #5
contains 12 young Dipsoceana loralis,
4 Uma inornata, 11 Uma notata, and
10 Uma scoparia. These are the experimental
animals. Cage #3 will receive 11 hours
of light per day, as in the past.
Cage #5 will receive 24 hours of
light per day, beginning today.
The other 2 cages (#1 and 2)
contain Phrynosoma mi calli for a
hibernation experiment, as mentioned earlier.
Each of the indoor cages will
have one 250-watt infra-red lamp
shining at each end of the cage
(except cage #1, which will have no
lights on after October). On February
15th, I plan to again turn on the
lights in cage #1 (one 250-watt
lamp at each end).
