Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
around us by this time. We decided
we would return to the Glamis-
Brawley Road to try to get some
P. micelli this trip, so we took
the Ogilby-Glamis Road. There had
been very recent rains east of us,
so the road was under considerable
water in places from flash floods.
Even though the road is dirt, &
the water was rather deep in
places (~2 feet), we managed to
drive through without difficulty
by using the 4-wheel drive. At
one place we saw an adult Crotalus
cerastes swim across the road
and climb up on dry ground
on the other side. We eventually
reached Glamis again and camped for
the night on top of the big dune
where we had spent the previous
night. The maximum temp. today
was 113°F. (with a humidity to match!)
The minimum temp. tonight was 84°F.
We drove 154 miles today, and
although we saw lots of rain
falling in the distance, we didn't
have any rain fall where we were.
