Aug. 20 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Walt Moberly, Fritz Zaebot & I left UCR at 1545 and dropped off some marked Uma inornata at "Grand-Daddy Dune" as we passed on our way to Glamis. We reached the High-line Canal at 1930, and began to night collect immediately. We looked for lizards from then until 2015. All we found were 1 live Cebonyx variegatus and 1 DOR Phrynosoma m'calli. The minimum temperature tonight was 88°F. We drove 172 miles today.
Aug. 21 We arose at 0530 and ate breakfast. We began looking for lizards in the dunes at 0630, & searched until 0945. The humidity was so high we felt miserable walking in the dunes. We saw lots of several Uma notata & brought 6 of them back to the laboratory. Not too many adults were to be seen. Clouds were all around, so the weather felt oppressive to us, but I doubt if this affected the lizard activity much. We drove to Glamis & learned that there had been heavy rains in the Chocolate Mts. very recently. The water had
