Mayhew 1961 Journal 64. Aug. 13 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. We arose at 0520, & I began to look for lizards at 0600. Since 13 live & 2 DOR P. m'calli were found yesterday, I didn't think we would have much chance finding any more today. However, by the time we quit looking at 0930, we had caught 15 more, for a total of 28 live & 2 DOR for the two days spent looking. The earliest seen today was at 0625, the latest at 0920. This is the greatest number we have ever captured in a single trip. These, we have collected or seen dead 140 animals of this species since the first of the year (113 live, 27 dead), 105 of them in the past 3 months (94 live, 11 dead). It appears they are not at all rare in the proper habitat. They were the most abundant animal we saw between the canals. I left the Highline Canal at 0945 & reached UCR at 1355. I drove 184 miles today and 598 miles on the trip. 50 animals of 7 species were collected: Phymosoma m'calli - 28 (10 juv, 14 O; 6 F; 18 ad, 4 O; 14 F) Urosaurus graciosa - 4 (2 O; 2 F) Coleonyx variegatus - 5 (3 O; 2 F) Uroa notata - 3 (2 ad O; 1 juv.) Diposaurus dorsalis - 7 Callisaurus draconoides - 2 (2 F) Crotaphytus wializeni - 1 (juv. O)
