60.
July 23
Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Coleonyx variegatus - 4 (1 juvenile)
Urosaurus graciosus - 1
Cnemidophorus tigris - 1
Crotaphytus wislizeni - 1
This makes 51 animals of 8
species added to our research
collection. We saw a total of
13 juvenile Callisaurus draconoides
and 3 juvenile Phrynosoma m'callii.
I saw 2 juvenile reptiles run
across the road in front of
the carry-all in the dunes.
However, it was rather late, so
I couldn't be sure if they were
young Uma notata or not. None
were seen during our trips to the
dunes during daylight hours,
however, I am frankly amazed
at the number of Phrynosoma
m'callii that have been collected
along that 7 mile stretch of
road between the two canals. I
know of at least 66 animals (live)
that have been collected there
by us the past two months.
We have now collected 85 (live)
of
this species on that part of
the road in 1961. Tracks in
the sand beside the road indicate
there are lots of animals left.
No place this
trip!
