Mayhew 1961 Journal 54. July 17 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Large Uma scoparia and one immature were they only other reptiles captured. Fair numbers of beetles were in each trap. We looked for lizards until 1830, but saw & caught only 2 immature Uma Scoparia. The maximum temp. today was 110°F., the minimum tonight was 82°F. July 18 We arose at 0515, and looked for lizards from 0615 to 1030. We saw only about half a dozen animals we failed to catch. Adult Uma scoparia & Dipsoaurus dorsalis were very hard to find. Not as many immature Uma Scoparia were seen as we expected. Over 170 animals (mostly immature young) have been marked & released this spring at our usual collecting site. However, none of the marked Uma were caught (1 marked Dipsoaurus was caught, though); 12 new ones were marked. animals caught were: Uma scoparia - 10 (6♂, 4♀) (+12 young) Urosaurus graciosus - 1 Dipsoaurus dorsalis - 4 (+1 young marked) Callisaurus draconoides - 1 (♀) Palm Springs area, Riverside Co., Calif. We looked for Uma inornata in the dunes north of Palm Desert from 1520 to 1545 without seeing any.
