I was impressed with the relatively
small number of animals and tracks
seen in the Gran Desierto in
Sonora, & in the portions of Baja
California that we visited. The same
was true for the parts of Arizona
that we covered. The lack of animals
(Reptilia) that were seen might be
explained by the fact that we were
looking at the wrong time of the
day. However, the tracks should have
been visible at any time of day.
Bird, insect & mammal tracks were
seen at times when few, if any,
reptile tracks were seen. No place
visited compared with the Algodones
Dunes for numbers of reptiles or
of tracks. This area must be
fantastically rich with reptiles.
