Mayhew 1961 Journal 43. June 8 5 mi. W. of Glamis, Imperial Co., Calif. Walt & Steve started looking for Uma notata & Urosaurus gracilis in the dunes at 0700 while I petrolled the road at the same time looking for Phrynosoma m'calli. They found relatively few large Uma, but lots of young ones. I saw 2 DOR Phrynosoma m'calli (1 of which I could save) and caught 9 live ones. The last one seen (at 0930) escaped me by going around the car. By this time the temps. were getting fairly high. I just made one round trip between the canals, then picked up the boys. We looked for Dipsoecamus dorsalis a few minutes before starting for home. We reached UCR at 1740. We drove 194 miles today, and 1,589 miles on the entire trip. We captured 173 animals of 28 species during the trip, as follows: Chionactis occipitalis - 2 Chionactis palustris - 1 Phyllorhynchus decurtatus - 1 Phyllorhynchus worni - 1 Phrynosoma solare - 1 Phrynosoma m'calli - 15 Bufo alvarius - 1 Bufo woodhousii - 2 Cnemidophorus tigris - 3 Uta stansburiana - 3 Trimorphodon lambdoides - 1 air(30")-30.0°C. road-50.0°C. air(1cm)-35.0°C.
