Mayhew 1961 Journal 34. June 1 Laguna Mts., San Diego Co., Calif. Walter Moberly, Steven Peterson & I left UCR at 1700 in International Travelall # 383, headed for Mexico & Arizona for a week. We dropped some marked Uma insuata & Diposaurus dorsalis at Granddaddy Dune near 10:00 Palms, then drove up the Palms to Pinto Highway to the Anza turn-off. We saw a relatively young (~24") Cristalus viridis on the road near Anza shortly after dark. We chased it off the road, then drove to the Laguna Mts., where we camped for the night. We drove 170 miles today. June 2 Northern Baja California, Mexico The next morning we crossed into Baja Calif. at Tecate, then drove east to Rumorosa. We drove south about 12 miles to a campsite near the Tete de la India where we had seen Sceloporus orcutti previously. The weather was relatively cool, so we didn't see any S. orcutti this afternoon. However, we were able to capture 27 Xantusia hedwawi by prying off granite flakes. Almost every flake had a lizard under it. Some flakes contained 2 lizards. A couple of flakes revealed 2 to 5 dead lizards beneath them. It looked as if some
