Walter Moberly & I left UCR at 0735 for our monthly sample of Uma notata. We reached the collecting area in Palm Springs at 0900. At 0915 we were already finding adult Diposaurus dorsalis active, but few Uma (except small ones). We collected through Palm Springs Panorama & P.S. Highlands with little success with Uma, but with fair success with Diposaurus. At 1230 we drove down Ramon Road to 1000 Palms, then along Varner Road to "Grandaddy Dune" 5 mi. N.W. of 1000 Palms. We gathered a soil sample here, then began to poke under lancea with our books to stir out some Uma. We were fairly successful with this operation. We caught 7 adult Uma in this manner, as well as 3 young.
