Today Walt Mobley & I worked this area for April's Sceloporus orcutti sample. We reached the area at 0930, and collected until 1505. We were able to collect 36 animals today, 21 of which were Sceloporus orcutti. Uta stansburiana (8), Sceloporus occidentalis (5), and Cnemidophorus hypenrythus (2) made up the remainder of the animals captured. April 14 Salton Sea area, Riverside & Imperial Cos, Calif. The field zoology class (16 students) & I left UCR at 1320 for the week-end. We reached Mecca at 1500 and began to look for reptiles 2 miles east of Mecca. We caught 1 Urosaurus graciosa, 1 Ctenosaura draconides, 1 Uta stansburiana, & 1 Phrynosoma platyphora before we left at 1615. We spent the night near Harper Well. I missed the turn to the well in the dark, so we camped about 1 mile S.E. of the well. April 15 We hiked to San Felipe Creek this morning. Very few animals of any kind were seen. (No Phainopepla, which we often see here.) We drove to Power Lake & ate lunch.
