Mayhew 1961 Journal 19. Mar, 27 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. We looked for lizards until 1400. By that time we had 29 young Uma notata (3 caught last evening) and 10 adult Uma notata as well as 7 Urosaurus graciosa. These were the only species of lizards seen today. The wind became much stronger later in the afternoon (15-18 mph). After collecting a soil sample, we drove to Glamis. No rain has fallen since last trip. At 1535 we began looking for Phymorus micelli between the canals, ceasing our looking at 1600. No sign could be found of this species — either dead or alive. It was approximately the same time of day we found them yesterday, but I think the wind kept them from their perches along the road. None seemed to have been run over by cars today either. We then drove on to Dale Dry Lake, arriving at 1945. The maximum temp. today was 82°F. The minimum tonight was 52°F. We drove 222 miles today. Two dead Pituophis caterifer were seen on the road today — one 4 mi. north of Brawley & one in Niland. Mar. 28 Dale Dry Lake area, San Bernardino Co., Calif. We arose at 0615 because it began to sprinkle on us. We checked the lizard traps, but nothing except a few dead beetles were found. I used a shovel
