Mayhew 1961 Journal 18, Mar. 26 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. We looked for animals along the road between the two canals between 1415 and 1600. We caught 2 Phrynosoma unicolori + salvaged one dead one from the road. In all, we found 7 run over on the road between the canals. At 1600 we began to look for Uma notata in the dunes. We saw several, but most of them were very "spooky". We finally succeeded in capturing 1 ad f., and 3 immature Uma notata + one ad. or Urosaurus gracilis. One of our traps in the dunes has disappeared, apparently having been carried away by someone. The other traps in the dune was filled to the top with sand. We began night collecting at 1835. Between then and 2145, when we quit, we caught 2 ad or Coleonyx variegatus + found one that had been run over by a car. No other animals were seen. We drove 50 miles night collecting between the 2 canals. We drove a total of 239 miles today. The maximum temp. today was 75°F. The minimum temp. tonight was 50.0°F. We collected a total of 14 animals of 8 species today. Mar. 27 We arose at 0830 and ate breakfast. At that time the wind was blowing 5-10 mph. from the south, with gusts to 18 mph. Nevertheless, we began looking for lizards at 0945. Young lizards were seen immediately. No adults (Uma notata) were seen until 1020.
