Mayhew 1961 Journal 12. Mar. 13 2 mi. N. W. of Sunny mead, Riverside Co., Calif. but we didn't bother them. all 3 were seen within 400 yards of Walt's pick-up. We captured 2 juvenil Sceloporus oretti as well as 7 adults of this species. We also caught 4 Uta stansburiana and 3 Sceloporus occidentalis. We quit at 1700. By then the sun was no longer shining on the rocks on that side of the mountains. Mar. 16 Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif. Walt Moberly & I left UCR in the geology carry-all at 0835. We checked the trap at Windy Point and found it completely filled with sand. We removed the trap & took it with us. We reached Palm Springs Panorama at 1000. At that time weather conditions were: air temp.(30") - 18.8°C, (1cm) - 22.4°C., soil surface - 36.2°C., no overcast, 36% rel. humidity, 12-15 mph. wind from NW. A couple of animals were found immediately (ad. & & ad. ♀). We walked over a mile, however, without seeing any more. As soon as we began to drive down the road again, we found 4 adults within the first 100 yards. For the rest of the day we drove the roads, about 10-15 mph., looking for lizards. In this way we were able to capture 8 adult ♂, 3 adult ♀, 5 juveniles. No adult animals were seen after 1400. The juveniles were weighed, measured, & released.
