Mayhew 1961 Journal 6. Feb. 5 Palm Springs area, Riverside Co., Calif. is just being established, called Palm Springs Panorama (Palm Springs Highlands is going in just south of it). We drove to the east end of P.S. Panorama, then started looking for lizards in the open country east of the road. We began looking for lizards at 1115 and continued to look until 1425. During that time we saw (and captured) 8 juvenil and 1 adult Uma inornata. All of these were found between 1115 and: 1320. No lizards were seen after 1320. During this time the wind was blowing 5-8 mph, from the N.W. There were no clouds. The air temp. (30") ranged from 20.2°C to 22.2°C during this time. We established soil sample station #3 about 100 feet east of the corner of Date Palm Drive and Tachevah Drive, which is at the present N.E. corner of the subdivision. The area we selected is outside the subdivision. We checked the trap at Windy Point on our way home. We removed 1 dead juvenil Uma inornata and 3 live juvenil Uma inornata. There were also 17 Eleodes, 2 sand crickets, 1 small scorpion, and 4 millipeds. We reached UCR at 1700 after driving 8+ miles today (556 miles for the entire trip). We caught a total of 1 Phrynosoma mi'celli, 1 Uta stansburiana, 27 Uma notata, 12 Uma inornata, 5 Uma scoparia.
