Mayhew 1960 Journal 60. Aug. 11 Palm Springs area, Riverside Co., Calif. We returned to UCP at 1845, after taking a trip up into Deep Canyon with Lloyd Tevis. The total distance driven on the trip was 861 miles. Two can (5 gal.) traps had been set out the month before, one at Windy Point, one near the Coachella Canal. The animals found in these traps this month were: Windy Point Coachella Canal 2 Chionactis occipitalis 2 Chionactis occipitalis 1 Uma inornata (ad ?) several scorpions 1 Callisaurus draconoides + beetles 1 dead Urosaurus graciosa several scorpions + beetles Upon our return, we placed the following animals in the outdoor cages to hold over the winter: cage #1 Uma inornata - 22 (3 ad ?; 7ad ?; 1ad? ; 9 ad ?; 2 ?) cage #2 Uma notata - 14 (5ad ?; 1ad ?; 4ad ? ; 4ad ? ) cage #3 Uma scoparia - 12 (4 ad ?; 6ad ?; 2 ad ? ?) The remainder of the animals either were dissected or sent to Dr. Wm. Dawson at the University of Michigan. (16% were dissected)
