Aug. 9 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
were captured all night, so it was
impossible to say that night collecting
before dawn is better in summer than
collecting early in the evening. We
collected 2 Phrynosoma m'celli
about 0400, which was quite surprising
to us. We drove 175 miles night collecting
last night, 366 miles for the entire
day, Callicrura hatchlings were seen.
at least 38 Wood Ibises were seen in
trees and on open farm land at
0550 this morning near Orita Siding.
The first Uuna was seen at 0625; air
temp (30") at this time was 31.6°C.
Sunrise was 0505 today, Minimum
temp. last night was 82°F., maximum
temp. yesterday was 112°F.
We looked for Uuna notata from
0745 to 1000, then from 1100 to 1215.
We left the area at 1215 and drove
east through Glamis to Blythe, then
to Desert Center. We stopped at the
San Bernardino - Riverside Co. line to
fix chow. However, we caught one
Sauromalus obesus before we ate
(cought at sundown). Then we night
collected to our campsite at Dale
Dry Lake, stopping at 2050. One
Phyllorhynchus decurtatus was caught. We
drove 200 miles today.
