Mayhew 1960 Journal 6. Feb. 15 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. Oenothera brevis Nama demissum Escholtzia glyptosperma We reached our campsite near Glamis at 1915. We tried to night collect along the way, but no animals were to be found. We drove 323 miles today. The maximum temp. we encountered today was 19°C. (66°F.), the minimum temp. tonight was 8°C. (46°F.). Feb. 16 We arose at 0730 and ate breakfast. We watched Navy planes bombing + strafing their near-by target areas until the temperatures rose somewhat. We began looking for lizards at 1015. The first lizard we saw (juvenal Uma notata) was spotted at 1018. It was under the surface of the sand in the open. At that time weather conditions were as follows: relative humidity - 37% air temp. (30") - 16.2°C. .. .. (1cm) - 20.0°C. soil surf. temp. - 29.8°C. wind - NW; 1-3 mph. no overcast The cloacal temp. of this animal was 27.3°C. We searched for animals from 1015 to 1225 (time out for obtaining soil samples). After lunch, we searched from 1300 to 1530. During the day we caught 21 lizards
