I left UCR in 2 vehicles (Cany-all & 1958
Chev. station wagon). We stopped about noon
near the Riverside - Imperial Co. line to
check over the possibility of setting

Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
We then drove onto this area to
begin collecting. We drove slowly down
the road for 1/2 hour between the
Highline & Coachella Canals, looking for
animals (1540 to 1610). Lots of
hatchling Uma notata were seen.
Sunset occurred at 1830 and several
Uma were caught before that time.
We began night collecting at 1945
by driving in shifts - one crew was
on the road all night. Kurt & I drove
until 2200; then Walt & Ray drove until
2400; Frank & Bob followed until 0200;
finally Kurt & I drove until 0700. Three
Coleonyx variegatus hatchlings were seen
tonight, as well as 3 Crotalus cerastes
(adults). Only a few adult Coleonyx
