Mayhew 1959 Journal 42. Apr. 25 Colorado Desert, Imperial Co., Calif. Kept from last night's collecting. We left the collecting site at 1530 and headed for the Coachella Valley. Colorado Desert, Riverside Co., Calif. We had planned to night collect in the 1000 Palms area, but the wind was blowing so hard we decided not to try it. However, while driving down the old highway between 1000 Palms & Searnet we found a young Phyllorhynchus decurtatus on the road. We reached UCR at 2005, after a trip of 590 miles. During that time we caught [illegible] animals of 11 genera and 13 species, of which 6 were released. Apr. 29 5 mi. N.W. of 1000 Palms, Riverside Co., Calif. This morning at 0730 Charles Filipini & I left UCR for collecting station III, reaching that spot at 0900. We saw numerous Callisaurus draconoides on the old highway between Searnet and our collecting site. We drove this stretch between 0845 and 0900. At 0910, when we sampled temperatures, we obtained the following results: air temp (30") - 35.7°C. " " (1cm) - 38.4°C. soil surface " - 44.4°C. We completed taking our soil samples
