and obtained our monthly soil
sample in a hollow in the dune
(station II) while I took the rest
of the class to the top of the dune
(station I) for the same purpose.
Then we collected our monthly
sample of Uma notata. We caught
all we could, then when we returned
to the car, we released the extra
ones that had been captured. We
released 4 or adult Uma notata, 4 or
immature Uma notata, 29 immature
Uma notata, and 1 or adult Uroaurus
graciosa. We began looking for Uma
at 0915 and stopped looking at
1305. Animals were still active at
this time, however.
We then drove to Ramer Lake, a few
miles north of Brawly, and looked
at waterfowl and other birds that
had congregated there. Species seen
at this location were as follows:
Sylvilagus audubonii Cinnamon Tail
Marsh wren Yellow-headed Blackbird
Tree swallow Red-winged "
Cost Brewer's "
Baldpate White-crowned Sparrow
Fulvous tree duck Audubon warbler
Shoveller Black Phoebe
Pintail Common Gallinule
