Mar. 14 UCR campus, Riverside Co., Calif.
swimming in the small pond just east of Webber Hall. It flew out of the area when we arrived, but when we passed near the pond again about 30 minutes later, it was back swimming in the same location. We watched it from a distance for about 15 minutes. It finally climbed out of the water and walked along the shore.
Species of other animals that were seen today were:
Sylvilagus audubonii Lepus californicus
Uta stansburiana Pogonomyx sp.
Mar. 20 Colorado Desert, Imperial Co., Calif.
This afternoon at 1600 Frank Aubrey, the field zoology class & I left UCR for a 2 1/2 day field trip. We reached the area just east of Brawly about 2100 and began to drive slowly for night collecting. One Colemyx variegatus was all that was seen all evening. We drove as far as the Palo Verde-Ogilby road without seeing anything else. We stopped looking at 2390. Then we made camp on the top of the highest dune west of Elorris.
