Mayhew 1959 Journal 27. Mar. 10 1 mi. W. of Phelan, San Bernardino Co., Calif. No S. magister were found, but one Sceloporus occidentalis and 20 Xanthusia vigilis were captured. The latter species was very numerous and active when exposed. The S. occidentalis was so cold it didn't even try to move away. We stopped looking at 1320. After a drive north of Adelanto to check on some wild flowers for Frank Vasek, we returned to UCR, arriving at 1625. The trip covered a total of 173 miles. Mar. 13 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. This morning at 0730 Bobby, Frank Aubrey, & I left UCR for collecting station IV. We stopped for a few minutes 10 miles E. of Joshua Tree to collect several species of wild flowers that were in bloom, then drove on toward our destination. We stopped once more, 11 mi. E. of 29 Palms, to pick up a ? Phrynosoma platyrhinos on the road. We reached collecting site IV at 1025. We collected the necessary soil samples, then began looking for Uma scaparia. By 1400 we had completed our sample (besides releasing 2 adult ♂ and 3 immature ♂), as well as captured 3 Callisaurus draconoides. We drove back to 29 Palms, through Joshua
