These plants (most of them) were growing
in a low spot that was full of water
when we were here last month. Many
more plants are growing here, but have not
matured enough to flower yet. We
drove on through Joshua Tree National
Monument, where we saw Isomeris arborea,
and Datura meteloides in bloom. When
we drove through Box Canyon on Highway
195, we saw Cercidium floridum, Ereelia
farinosa, Stephanomeria parviflora, Hyptis
Emoryi, Lotus scoparius, Isomeris arborea,
and Beloperone californica all in bloom.
We reached the Glamis area at 1800, when
the air temp. was 13.6°C. (56°F.). Consequently,
we found no reptiles on the road, even
though we drove slowly and looked for them.
