Mayhew 1959 Oct. 25 Journal 105. Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. By 1140 we had 18 Uma notata, so we returned to the car [illegible] in order to get a soil sample at noon. I've never seen so many Crotalus cerastes tracks as we saw this morning in the dunes. There was at least one set of tracks every 200-300 feet. Two more U. notata were caught just after our soil sampling was finished. We left the area at 1250 + drove to the Highline Canal for lunch. Much of the vegetation in the dunes was quite green. Helianthus naevius was still in bloom. Quite a few insects were seen also. On the way back to UCR, we stopped in Palm Springs to get another soil sample. The wind was blowing quite hard there. We picked up [illegible] an adult ♀ Phrynosoma platyrhinos at that location. We reached UCR at 1725 after driving 184 miles today, and 499 miles on the entire trip. The maximum temp. today was 104°F. We brought back the following animals (total of 69 animals): Uma scaparia - 30 (10 ad ♂; 6 ad ?♂; 5ad♀; 1ad?♀; 6im ♂; 2 im ♀) Callisaurus draconoides - 5 (3 ad ♂; 1 ad ?♂; 1ad ♀) Crotaphytus wickligeri - 1 (ad ♂) Uta stansburiana - 1 (ad ♀) Colemys variegatus - 10 (6ad ♂; 1ad ?♂; 2 ad♀; 1ad ?♀) Crotalus cerastes - 1 (imm.)
