Mayhew 1959 Oct. 24 Journal 103. Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. is quite green at present. A very greenish tinge can be seen in the distance near the base of the Sheep Hole Mts. Palsoria, Pectis papposa, Allionia cariosa were all in bloom, as was Chrysotamnus sp. The leaves of Larrea diviricata were quite green. A number of insects were seen as well. Judging from the number of lizards (Uma scoparia) seen, and the number of tracks seen, these animals have not begun hibernation yet. We saw 5 newly hatched Uma scoparia & 1 newly hatched Callisaurus draconides. After lunch (1330) we drove east toward Rice on Base Line Highway, capturing 2 more Uma scoparia, 1 Cristophytus [illegible] wioizeni, 1 Uta stansburiana, and 3 Callisaurus draconides before we reached the end of the pavement. We drove on toward Desert Center over the 7 miles of dirt road in Riverside Co. to reach the Rice - Desert Center Road. From Desert Center, we proceeded east to Blythe, Ripley, & Palo Verde, which we reached about sundown. Then we drove south over the Palo Verde - Ogilby Road until we reached the pavement 12 miles east of Glamis. The 30 miles of dirt road from Palo Verde wasn't nearly
