Mayhew 1959 Journal 86. Aug. 20 22 mi. E. of 29 Palms, San Bernardino Co., Calif. We arose at 0530. We collected soil samples from 0630 to 0645. Then we collected lizards from 0650 to 1000 at the regular collecting area. We also marked 2 young Larrea divaricata to check on their growth rate. They are at the edge of the dirt road going to the Iron Age Mine a short distance from where it leaves the paved road leading to 29 Palms. Both of them are on the east side of the dirt road. One of them is 3" high, the other is 4'1/2" high. At 1000 we drove east on the newly paved road for 2 miles and began to collect animals in that area. We collected here until 1400. Then we headed for 29 Palms, capturing 1 Diposaurus dorsalis on the way, a young Sceloporus magister was caught later as we approached Morongo Valley. Thus, we captured 60 animals today, as follows: Uma sesparia -37 (13 ad ♂; 8 ad ♀; 12 imm ♂; 2 imm ♀; 2 ?) Sceloporus magister -2 (1 ad ♀; 1 imm ♂) Urosaurus graciosa -5 (ad ♂) Diposaurus dorsalis -13 (7 ad ♂; 2 ad ♀; 4 ?) Callisaurus draconoides -3 (1 ad ♂; 1 ad ♀; 1 imm ♀) This comes to a grand total of 134 animals captured on the entire trip, in 12 species. They are divided as follows:
