Mayhew 1959 Aug. 18 Journal 83. 5 mi. N.W. of 1000 Palms, Riverside Co., Calif. Actually we saw (and caught) 2 animals here by 1115, at which time we left. By then we had captured the following animals in this region: Uma infonata - 7 (1ad Ø; 3ad ♀; 3 im ♂) Cystophytus widigeni - 1 (ad ♀) Phrynosoma platyhinso - 2 (1ad ♂; 1 ad ♀) This made a total of 10 caught in this region this morning. 5 mi. W. of Glamis, Imperial Co., Calif. We reached the Glamis area at 1630 and began to collect animals immediately. We drove up & down the road collecting on it for some time. Then we parked the car and collected in the sand dunes. We collected until 1845 in this manner (sundown ~ 1820, moonrise ~ 1840). Then we might collected along the road until 2230. We travelled 256 miles during the day. In this area we collected the following today: Uma notata - 14 (7 ad. ♂; 3ad ♀; 2 im ♂; 2 im ♀) Phrynosoma micelli - 1 (ad ♀) Coleonyx variegatus - 9 (4ad ♂; 4ad ♀; 1im ♂) Crotalus cerastes - 1 (ad ♂) For the day, then, we caught 35 animals (10 near 1000 Palms, 25 near Glamis). The maximum temp. today was 104°F., the minimum temp. tonight was 74°F.
