Mayhew 1959 Journal 79a. Aug. 5 Box Springs Mts., 4 mi. N.W. of Sunnymead, Riverside Co., Calif. (These are notes obtained by Frank Aubry) This morning Frank & Charles Filippini left UCR at 0515 and reached the collecting area at 0525. They waited until 0540 at the 1800 ft. level, but the sun was not yet hitting the surface there, so they decided to move on to the area above McGregor's Ranch. They arrived there at 0605. The temperatures at the time were: air temp. (30") - 19.5°C, '' '' (1cm) - 19.5°C, soil surface temp. - 19.0°C. There were no lizards seen until 0645, at which time they caught an adult Sceloporus orcutti. They stayed in that area until 0845 and caught 6 Sceloporus orcutti & 2 Sceloporus occidentalis. At this time no more lizards were seen except for some newly-hatched Uta stansburiana, so they returned to the 1800 ft. level. Here they caught 1 Crotalus ruber, 1 adult Sceloporus orcutti, & 2 Sceloporus occidentalis. After 0930 they saw only 2 more lizards, both Sceloporus occidentalis, but they were unable to capture either of them. At 1030 they returned to UCR. There were probably
