5 mi. W. of Glamis, Imperial Co., Calif.
2 adult ♀ Coleonyx variegatus, We
found 2 newly hatched Coleonyx but
released them after we had examined
them. We quit looking at 2145, since
we could find nothing. The minimum
temp. tonight was 84°F.
July 21
We arose at 0445. At this time the
wind was blowing 15-18mph. (gusts to
24 mph.) from the S.E. Other weather conditions:
air temp. (30") - 29.0°C.
" " (1cm) - 30.4°C.
soil surface temp. - 30.5°C.
relative humidity - 60%
an adult Uma notata was found on
the road at 0515 (the same time the
above weather conditions were recorded).
We drove along the road looking
for animals after we obtained our
soil sample at station II. We didn't
get a sample at station I (on top of
a dune) because the wind was blowing
the sand so badly. During the morning
we caught only the following animals:
Uma notata - 3 (1 ad ♂, 1 ad ♀, 1 imm?)
Phymaosoma m'calli - 2 (1 ad ♂, 1 ad ♀)
Dipossaurus dorsalis - 1 (ad ♀)
Thus, only 6 animals were caught this
morning, but during our entire stay
in this area (yesterday afternoon +
this morning) we caught the following:
