Dale Dry Lake area, San Bernardino Co., Calif.
29 Palms (one seen at 1925; the other at
1930). One DOR Chionactis occipitalis
(young) & one Phyllorhynchus decurtatus
(young) were found about 15 feet apart
on the pavement 5 mi. north of Dale Dry
Lake in the Sheep Hole Mts. We didn't
collect a thing all evening. The air temp.
(30") at 2100 was 88° F. The minimum air
temp. tonight was 64° F. We drove 138

June 10
We arose at 0600. Soil samples were
collected from 0730 to 0740. We captured
lizards from 0710 to 1250. The first adult
lizard seen (Uma scoparia) was at 0650.
The animals caught this morning were:
Callisaurus draconoides - 2 (2 in. ♀)
Urosaurus gracilis - 1 (ad. ♂)
Crotaphytus wislizeni - 1 (ad. ♂)
Dipsoosaurus dorsalis - 8 (6 ad. ♂, 2 in. ♀)
Uma scoparia - 24 (9 ad. ♂, 4 ad. ♀, 6 in. ♂, 5 in. ♀)
These 36, plus the 3 Sceloporus magister
captured near Yucca Valley yesterday afternoon
give us 39 animals so far on this trip.
We left Dale Dry Lake at 1315. After
eating a bite at the A & W Root Beer
Shop in 29 Palms, we drove to Belle
Campground in Joshua Tree National
Monument, where we slept for about
an hour before driving to the
Glamis area.
