Mayhew 1959 June 9 Dale Dry Lake area, San Bernardino Co., Calif. 29 Palms (one seen at 1925; the other at 1930). One DOR Chionactis occipitalis (young) & one Phyllorhynchus decurtatus (young) were found about 15 feet apart on the pavement 5 mi. north of Dale Dry Lake in the Sheep Hole Mts. We didn't collect a thing all evening. The air temp. (30") at 2100 was 88° F. The minimum air temp. tonight was 64° F. We drove 138 miles today. June 10 We arose at 0600. Soil samples were collected from 0730 to 0740. We captured lizards from 0710 to 1250. The first adult lizard seen (Uma scoparia) was at 0650. The animals caught this morning were: Callisaurus draconoides - 2 (2 in. ♀) Urosaurus gracilis - 1 (ad. ♂) Crotaphytus wislizeni - 1 (ad. ♂) Dipsoosaurus dorsalis - 8 (6 ad. ♂, 2 in. ♀) Uma scoparia - 24 (9 ad. ♂, 4 ad. ♀, 6 in. ♂, 5 in. ♀) These 36, plus the 3 Sceloporus magister captured near Yucca Valley yesterday afternoon give us 39 animals so far on this trip. We left Dale Dry Lake at 1315. After eating a bite at the A & W Root Beer Shop in 29 Palms, we drove to Belle Campground in Joshua Tree National Monument, where we slept for about an hour before driving to the Glamis area.
