in the 16 traps, for an average of 25%.
After breakfast we collected reptiles in
the stream bottom and looked at
birds + mammals. Animals caught were:
Sceloporus occidentalis - 6
Sceloporus graciosus- 13
- 1
Animals seen were: (Total caught- 20)
Black-headed grosbeak Song sparrow
Western tanager Stellar's jay
Green-tailed towhee Sparrow hawk
Wilson's warbler Mt. chickadee
Red-breasted sapsucker Purple finch
Enianias sp.
We stopped looking at 1030 and
drove to the San Gorgonio Wilderness
area, arriving at 1106. We collected
12 Sceloporus graciosus on or near
Poop-out Hill, then walked up the
trail a couple of miles to the large
meadow. Almost no snow is on San
Gorgonio this year - none below about
10,000 ft., and then only in patches
clear to the top. The willows have not
leafed out yet. Only 2 or 3 species of
wildflowers were seen. The animals
seen during this stop were:
Brown creeper Fox sparrow
