Killdeer
Conaway Ranch, 2 miles east of Woodland, Yolo Co., Calif.
A killdeer nest was found early this
afternoon in the gravel between the tire
tracks of a road along the main canal,
just east of the large blackbird swamp.
The rocks had been moved around enough

were brownish clay-colored, with a great

the nest while I was standing in the
open only 40 feet from it.

On looking at the same nest today, I
found only one egg remaining, & it was
broken. There was no evidence of the
other eggs about. The ? was gone.

A nest with 3 eggs was found this morning

back of the ?, She stood in a normal standing
position, while he stood on her back. There
was no movement on the part of either of
