(Blue-eyed Grass) Herb from 4 to 18 inches high; grass-like leaves, all basal; corolla blue, petals yellow at the base; herbage clammy; found growing in rather dry soil in an open grassy plot between buildings with Medicago hispida, Plantago lanceolata, Avena fatua, and several other species of Graminae; altitude 100 feet. May 19 1433 Spruce St. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. 29. Matricaria suaveolens (Pursh) Buch. (Pineapple Weed) Small herb, 2 to 4 inches high; leaves pinnately dissected; flowers greenish; no rays; found growing on hard packed soil between sidewalk and street, along with Medicago hispida, Hordeum murinum, Taraxacum vulgare, Lolium perenne, and Anagallis arvensis; altitude 100 feet. 30. Senecio vulgaris L. (Common Groundsel) Herb from 4 to 14 inches high; black-tipped involucreal bracts; flowers yellow; no rays; herbage clammy; found on rather hard packed soil in a flower garden border in back of the house; growing with Anagallis arvensis, Bromus rigidus, Euphorbia peplys, Stellaria media; alitude 100 feet. (Thistle) Herb growing from 6 inches to 4 feet high; very prickly stems and leaves; flowers clustered near the top; corolla blue to purple; found growing on an east-facing slope along with Rubus
