10. (cont.) white; herbage slightly hairy; plants from
4 to 24 inches long; stems usually running for
most of their length along the ground; altitude
200 feet on a north-facing slope.
11. Heracleum lanatum Michx. (Cow Parsnip)
These plants were found in the same location
as the preceding species; plants were about
6 feet high; corolla white; Rubus and Rhus also
present at this location.
12. Rubus vitifolius C.+S. (Calif. Blackberry)
Found also in the shade of Quercus agrifolia
on a north-facing slope; altitude 200 feet;
plants about 4 feet high; corolla white; stems
with very sharp prickles.
13. [illegible] Galium aparine L. (Goose Grass)
Found beneath the same Quercus agrifolia;
herb from 6 to 24 inches high; stems were
dry at the bottom, but were fresh at the
top; very sticky herbage; corolla white, very
small; 4 petals.
14. Stachys bullata Benth. (Hedge Nettle)
Found also beneath the same Quercus
agrifolia; plants up to 24 inches in height;
corolla purplish, with darker reddish spots on
the lower lip; herbage slightly hairy.
15. Myosotis sylvatica Hoffm. (Forget-me-not)
Herb found along path on north-facing slope;
altitude 200 feet; growing in shade of Umbellularia
californica, along with Rhus diversiloba, Rubus
vitifolius and R. parviflorus, Symphoricarpos albus;
