Batrachoseps attenuatus (Slender Salamander) Mayhew 1947 May 10 Wildcat Canyon, Contra Costa Co., Calif. 3 of this species were seen under a rock in the cool, rather damp soil about 3 feet above the stream running just south of the Tilden Park golf course clubhouse. Water could be squeezed from the soil on which they were resting. The temperature of the soil was 13°C., and the temperature on the back of the animals was 14°C. They are rather long (3"), slender animals with very small legs. All three were curled up.
