Conaway Ranch, 2 miles east of Woodland, Yolo Co., Calif.
This afternoon I saw 4 pairs in the
large drainage ditch that forms the
southern boundary of the ranch. Nearly

were flushed again, both pairs flew to
another ditch about 200 yards south of
the original ditch, where they landed about
10 feet apart.
