California Clapper Rail
Mayhew
1947
April 26
Bay Farm Island, Alameda Co., Calif.
At 7:40 A.M. one individual was seen feeding under
a hummock. He walked leisurely along the
edge of the bank, occasionally picking up bits
of food. He walked much like a barnyard hen.
The reddish bill and the rust on the sides
of the breast were noticeable.
