Mayhew 1950 Pheasant 20. July 12 Conaway Ranch, 2 mi. east of Woodland, Yolo Co., Calif. This evening, from 7:30 to 8:30 P.M., Lee & I made a census south of new headquarters & mostly east of the main canal. The total count was 17 ♀, 69 young, & 4 ♂. The breakdown was as follows: ♀ young 1 + 6 1 + 5 1 + 4 2 + 1 2 + 0 1 + 3 1 + 4 1 + 5 - + 2 - + 11 2 + 8 4 + 18 1 + 2 The majority of these were about ½ grown. July 13 This morning from 8 to 10:30 AM. we censused the By-pass area north of new headquarters and northwest of new head-quarters. We saw a total of 7 ♂, 24 ♀, & 115 young. The breakdown is as follows: By-pass ♀ young 4 + 22 - + 14 1 + 1 - + 2 1 + 6 1 + 1 1 + 2 N.W. of Headquarters ♀ young 2 + 1 4 + 5 5 + 34 1 + 7 1 + 4 3 + 16 The majority of these were approximately ½ grown.
