Grand Canyon South Canyon to Kane. Nov 14, 1930 like excellent antelope range; in fact, more so than for cattle. The grass is quite sparse over much of the valley. Mr. Heatherell, at Royenta, an old timer in the region & the discoverer of Mesa Verde said that this whole northern range used to be covered with good grass. He supposes then, that it must have been so here too. The Grand Canyon Stock Co. still holds the water rights to most of HouseRock Valley. Consequently, the buffalo are grazed off goat lands. An old timer at South Canyon sums lions occasionally. He says they are few now. But that they come back, if pro- tected for 3 or 4 years.
