Areas # 11 E, 11 W, and The Caladona Area. 11 E in the first Get. Plains Segment with magnificent rolling grassland hills, with pines & juniper ridges, and with very spectacular broadlands along the south side of the White River. While # is in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, John Butter tells me that it is studded with cattle holdings (white ranchers) who also lease large areas for cattle and sheep. For all practical purposes, it is unavailable, in my opinion. 11 W is not quite as spectacular but very fine. However it is studded with ranches also, and, in my opinion, unavailable. The Caladona area is desolate and not the kind of Great Plains scene that would appeal to the public, Summarizing, it is my impression that the Caladona Butte area has the one most susceptible of its acre, for park purposes, but even if it is probable unavailable during the period of high cattle prices and wet years.
