Area #2 The eastern ? of the area is more beautiful, grazed, less interesting, generally flat to rolling; cut up into numerous small ranches. We were disappointed in it, except for seeing northeast corner composed of Bear Creek Mtle & Lone Tree Canyon. These however are less spectacular as landmarks than Palace Buttes! We both felt that area east of Highway 87 should not be further considered, unless a portion of it (few sq miles) north of center east of Highway 87 were found to be needed as supplement to western area. We saw 1 live rattlesnake crossing road some 20 miles north up Chugwater Creek below town of Chugwater and 1 dead rattlesnake in eastern portion. It is probable that all these grassland areas are well inhabited by rattlers, Guernsey Reservoir Recreation Area is now being managed by Nyo. The reservoir some 1/2 full of silt, would last another 25-30 years if Glendo Res were not being constructed above it. Guernsey in need of much maintenance and rehabilitation. B.R has permitted several private cabins to be constructed in good public use areas. Water nearby but setting unusually scenic.
