"visible current; sand bars common. It was at its best at high water and must be even less attractive as the lake level falls, Possibly it will become more attractive after Bridge Canyon Dam is built and only clear water enters upper end of Lake Mead. The unattractive end of Lake Mead will then be shifted to the upper end of Bridge Canyon reservoir, from Havasu Canyon to Kanab Cany. For a few years, unless Glen Canyon Dam is built, the reservoir as seen from Toroweap Point may resemble that now seen at Quarter master Canyon. If Glen Canyon Dam is built, perhaps the muddy & undesirable features will be transferred to it, with resulting improvement in Grand Canyon park and monument. The Canyon scenery at Quartermaster, exclusive of Lake Mead, is impressive. Burnt Springs Canyon opens to the north, opposite mouth of Quartermast, and runs back to base of Twin Point on Shivwits Plateau. Good spot for campgrounds. We drove down past Duncan Pond.
